Yacht Charter - India
charter information
Charters with the Malabar Yacht Club are either skippered charters or crewed charters. We do not provide bare boat charter. This is because yacht charter in India is only just begining and thus facilities for yachts are minimum.
The Malabar Yacht Club yachts are steel hulled, junk rigged ocean going schooners and are Indian Merchant Fleet registered vessels. The junk rig is easily handled and is a pleasure to work with, however many skippers will not have had experience with this sort of rig and so for that reason we will provide tuition if requested (the crew however are completely familiar with the rig and the vessels.)
At more than 50' overall length the yachts are a good size - but not too big to be easily handled. They have 6 bunks, toilet and shower and for the 2008 season are undergoing an extensive refit which includes:
- air conditioned aft cabin/lounge with drinks cooler
- improved galley
- a spacious sun lounging area on the aft deck, teak laid and fitted with sun blinds.
With a draft of only 4' and a long steel cruising keel they can be got in close to beeches and coves and so you have the best chance to really explore. They are also easily capable of making ocean passages and the trip from mainland India to the Lakshadweep Islands presents no problem.
